St. Patrick’s Day with my Girls!

Are you girls ready to go green this weekend?! Well, in case you’re still pondering just how to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day without spending a pot of gold, I happen to know of some fantastic events going on that I think all my Girls will appreciate! So throw on your “Kiss Me, I’m Irish” shirt that you get to wear once a year and head on over to where the party’s at!

I'll be at Brickell Irish Pub in Miami to celebrate St. Patrick's Day with Green Beer and a few Burgers!

If you haven’t picked up a Coup for Brickell Irish Pub’s Block Party in Miami, do it now! This epic Irish party played host to THOUSANDS of people last year and is expected to be even bigger this year. With your Coup, you girls will receive three beer tickets AND a ticket for either a burger or a hot dog (your choice) so you’ll be fully equipped to join in on all the festivities.

Also in Miami (as well as Boston, Atlanta, and Philadelphia) is the Saint Paddy’s Pub Crawl brought to you by Pubcrawls.com. For all my girls who picked up this Coup, you’ll get to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day over the course of 2-3 days as you hop from one pub to the next!

In Fort Lauderdale on Saturday, you can attend St. Patrick’s Day on Second Street, a huge block party with live music, drinks, and food provided by local restaurants in Himmarshee Village beginning at 5PM.

Finally, for some good old fashioned St. Patrick’s Day fun, there will be parades going on in Boston’s Back Bay and on Las Olas in Fort Lauderdale!

However you wish to celebrate, I hope all my Girls have a safe and happy holiday!

Burger & Beer Tasting with CoupTessa!

Girls, the votes are in! After a fun night of delicious burgers, tasty beers, and consuming more sweet potato fries than I care to admit during the Craft Beer and Locally Sourced Burger Tasting at LoKal Miami on March 6th, it seems as though the Miami Heat burger paired with the Blanche de Brussels draft was the overall favorite. (Although to be fair, it was an extremely close race…in fact I’m fully prepared to return to LoKal and order the full-sized version of all their burger samples that were included in this amazing Coup!)

Thanks to everyone who joined me at LoKal for this fabulous event- it was an exciting night! LoKal’s owner, Matt, stopped by every table to introduce each of the four courses personally, explaining his reasoning behind the pairings, how and why the burgers were crafted the way they were, and where the ingredients came from in Florida (the menu is locally sourced for the best flavors possible).

This was a great way to try out a variety of menu items from Coconut Grove’s newest “hot spot”! In addition to the Miami Heat/Blanche de Brussels pairing, there was also The LoKal burger paired with Florida Lager, the 50/50 burger paired with Tequesta Gnarly Barley, and the Classic burger paired with Blue Point Toasted Lager. I think it’s safe to say everyone left feeling sated and full!

I for one will definitely be back to try My Childhood Dream, a bacon cheeseburger surrounded by two donut halves…yep, I’ve officially found my weakness and it’s at LoKal Miami!

Which craft beer and locally sourced burger pairing was YOUR favorite??

Cirque du Soleil’s Michael Jackson THE IMMORTAL

I don’t know about you girls, but I’m still in awe over last night’s performance of Michael Jackson THE IMMORTAL World Tourby Cirque du Soleil at the American Airlines Arena! There was a ton of dancing, singing, and ridiculously amazing acrobatics (and that’s just what was happening in our exclusive CoupTessa VIP box during the show…what can I say- we’re all a bunch of MJ fanatics)!

Michael Jackson THE IMMORTAL World Tour by Cirque du Soleil pairs the King of Pop’s iconic songs with STUNNING performances by dancers, acrobats, and all the other insanely talented forces that are part of the Cirque du Soleil group.

All of his signature dance moves (and then some…) were recreated in the most exciting and awe-inspiring ways imaginable! From Bubbles the Chimp to a full reenactment of Thriller, the show captured every pivotal moment in the pop icon’s life in ways that had the crowd cheering and singing along.

Thanks to all our CoupTessa Members who snatched up this great Coup and enjoyed the show from premium VIP box seats! I hope you all had a fabulous time (I know I did…although it might be another day or so before Billie Jean is no longer running through my head)!

Dancing with the Girls!

Latin Salsa Dancing offered in Atlanta, Boston, Philadelphia, Miami or Fort Lauderdale

Who else was up bright and early this morning eagerly anticipating the announcement of this season’s Dancing with the Stars?! (I’ve already made my picks- studies have shown athletes and Disney stars are the ones to beat- HINT HINT!)

Girls, as tribute to my fellow “Belles of the Ballroom” (yes, I am counting myself amongst this prestigious fancy footwork group… naturally, I assume if I watch enough episodes, it automatically means I have reached “pro-dancer” status) I’ve got some insider info on some of my favorite ballroom dances courtesy of Casa Salsa in Fort Lauderdale and Allure Dance Studio in Atlanta!

Salsa: Salsa dancing originated in Puerto Rico in the early 1970s. Today it is known worldwide and encompasses many different styles, but is surprisingly easy to learn! (Perhaps that explains why so many clubs play Salsa music- everyone can pick it up!)

Bachata: This is a dance that originated in the countryside and rural neighborhoods of the Dominican Republic. There are many different styles but the original is the Dominican style. The dance is a four-step beat; it’s performed both in open and closed position, depending on the setting and mood of the partners. There is a lot of complicated footwork and it involves dancing in place or in circles.

Swing: This fun and flirtatious dance style can be performed to many different tempos and styles of music. Quick footwork is required, as well as a good connection between partners (especially between all those flips and twists involved)!

Foxtrot: The Foxtrot is the most versatile of all the ballroom dances, and can be adjusted depending on the amount of available floor space. Continuous movement is maintained throughout, and the dance can be dressed up for a special occasion or dressed down for a nightclub!

Tango: It’s all about the drama…the Tango consists of long, measured steps and small, quick movements that require crucial timing, so paying attention to the music and phrase changes is a must! This is also the perfect style of dance to learn with the man in your life because it’s the best for teaching him leading skills.

With all that said, it’s time to put on your best dancing shoes and get moving, Girls! By the time they hand out this season’s Mirror Ball Trophy on Dancing with the Stars, we should ALL be pros!

Wine Bars in your City!

Hi Girls! In light of the success of some of the wine bars I’ve recently featured Coups for, I’ve decided to share some of my very favorite spots to sit back, relax, and enjoy a bold and flavorful glass or two…

To me, there’s nothing better than finding that perfect place to unwind at the end of a busy day. That’s why I love scouting out quaint little wine bars everywhere I go! Each one featured today has an intimate, personable feel and a great selection of wines I think all my Girls will appreciate, so read on and see which picks look good for YOUR city!

Atlanta

Perrine’s Wine Shop- Featured in Food and Wine Magazine as one of the best new places to buy French wine, Perrine’s is a boutique wine shop with a French Provincial-inspired concept. The shop’s owner, Perrine, offers custom recipes and personalized cards so you can throw the perfect wine pairing party at home!

Red Sky Tapas & Bar- The tapas here are AMAZING (hello Lobster Mac and Cheese, Buffalo Calamari, and Blue Cheese Stuffed Spanish Olives to name a few…) but remember to save room for dessert, namely their Good & Evil, which combines dark and white chocolate mousse atop an Oreo crumb crust! Reservations are a must if you want to get there with enough time to order a glass of wine before the Dueling Pianos begin to play!

Boston

CoupTessa's Favorite Wine Bars: BRIX Wine Shop with one location in Boston's Financial District and the other in South End

BRIX Wine Shop- This delightful little wine shop can be found in two locations around Boston (one in the South End and the other in the Financial District). Both are stocked with wines that suit every budget and also have FREE wine tastings every week, where you girls can come in, mingle, enjoy complimentary apps, and sip all sorts of wine out of crystal stemware (ah…divine)!

Les Zygomates- The name translates to “the muscles in the face that make you smile” and that’s exactly what you’ll be doing as soon as you walk in! Take a seat at the bar and try their Assiette de Fromage (a yummy selection of cheeses) or indulge in a sit-down dinner and split a bottle of their finest Cabernet with your sweetheart. Every Tuesday through Saturday they have live jazz music!

Fort Lauderdale

Seventh Street Wine Company- This hidden shop located in the heart of Fort Lauderdale offers something unlike any wine tasting you girls have experienced! Inside are several stations set up with wines of every type and price point. By simply swiping a card you purchase upon arrival, you can try as many different wine samples as you like (go from White to Red to Port, then back to Rosé- the options are virtually endless). There are snacks and appetizers available, but the star of Seventh Street is definitely the wine!

Hollywood Vine- With over 600 wines from all over the world, you’ll be hard pressed to find something that’s doesn’t suit your fancy at Hollywood Vine! The relaxed atmosphere is perfect for their weekly Tuesday wine tastings, but if you simply don’t feel like going out, that’s okay too- they deliver!

Miami

Among CoupTessa's favorite wine bars in Miami is Kork Wine & Cheese, located in Brickell

Kork Wine & Cheese- Kork will transport you girls straight to the 16th century in France from the moment you step through their intricate iron doors. The interior is cozy and warm with wood paneled walls, hardwood floors, and granite counter tops, and it boasts an underground wine cellar that used to be a bomb shelter back during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Every Tuesday through Friday from 5-8PM, Kork has a $5 Happy Hour with staff selected Red and White wine and a selection of cheese appetizers, so be sure to stop in after work!

Wine Vault- Located in the shops at Midtown, Wine Vault is a seductive two-story lounge complete with a sleek glass elevator, DJ Booth, and outside courtyard. Their menu of tapas ranges anywhere from small nibbles (marinated olives, sweet cashews, or Parmesan chunks) to cured meats and cheese platters and everything in between, which is of course accompanied by wines straight from the vault!

Philadelphia

In Philadelphia, one of CoupTessa's favorite wine bars is Taste, Sand Castle Winery's Gourmet Experience

Taste- Taste is Sand Castle Winery’s Gourmet Experience and a unique concept for Pennsylvania’s wine stores! Both their Pheonixville and Warrington locations offer distinctive wines from Sand Castle Winery, a majestic hillside castle and vineyard overlooking the Delaware River in historic Bucks County. In addition to their wines, Taste also carries the freshest selection of Extra Virgin Olive Oils in the US, with more than thirty kinds of olive oils and balsamic vinegars that you can try, from artisans and small batch producers all over the world.

Vintage Wine Bar- Tall windows, exposed brick walls, and a chandelier made entirely of wine bottles make this charming wine bar one of my favorite places to enjoy a glass (and I haven’t even mentioned the food yet)!  Vintage’s menu consists of heartwarming favorites made from only the freshest local ingredients. Their main focus is on their wine and the food that it compliments (I love the Baked Brie paired with Riesling), and they are constantly changing their wine and beer specials, so you can continue to try new kinds at great prices!

There you have it, Girls- my top picks for wining and dining in each city. Check them out whenever you’re in the neighborhood and remember to tell them Tessa sent you!

Canvases, Cupcakes & Cocktails!

CoupTessa at Canvases, Cupcakes & Cocktails painting class event at Painting with a Twist in Miami!

Girls, we had SO much fun at Painting with a Twist in Miami last night for Canvases, Cupcakes & Cocktails that we simply couldn’t leave it as a “one time only event”!

Each person who attended got to create their very own work of art while savoring deliciously sweet cupcakes provided by Contenti Cupcakes (one of my favorites) and guilt-free Strawberry Margaritas courtesy of Sinless Cocktails! All in all, the night was a blast and everyone walked away with a newly painted masterpiece.

And since I want ALL my Girls to be able to experience this fun and creative night, I feel as if it’s my duty to offer this exclusive event again for anyone who may have missed out this time around…

So, keep an eye out for more dates (they’ll come sooner than you think) and snatch up a Coup for the next round of Canvases, Cupcakes & Cocktails!

“Pump Some Iron” Tomorrow Night in Miami!

Girls, tomorrow night brings two amazing “iron”-themed events! (Don’t worry, you won’t actually have to “pump some iron” at either of them)!

As you all might know, I happen to love a certain “all girls” gym around here by the name of Iron Flower Fitness (and judging by your Tessa-monials for past Coups we’ve offered for them, I’d say you girls agree with me)! Tomorrow night, Iron Flower Fitness is throwing a 1 Year Anniversary party from 7 to 10 p.m.! There will be live performances, sponsored bars, complimentary beauty bar treatments, and lite bites. Admission is FREE for all gym members, and $10 for non-members, so all my Girls are welcome to come out and help celebrate!

The Iron Flower Fitness 1st anniversary party will be at 7300 Biscayne Boulevard, Miami FL 33138

Now on to the next event! Tomorrow night also brings Miami New Times’ 4th Annual Iron Fork! In this epic chef vs. chef event, held at Ice Palace Film Studios from 7 to 10 p.m., you girls will get to witness Chef Challenge Finals, with returning champion Carlos Torres of De Rodriguez Restaurant Group against Timon Balloo of Sugarcane Bar and Grill. Each chef will receive a basket of ingredients, including one mystery ingredient that they’ll use to whip up some culinary masterpieces as they compete for the Iron Fork award!

With celebrity Chef Alan Susser leading the evening, you girls will get to enjoy some delicious food provided by dozens of Miami’s best restaurants, including Barton G. and Hakkasan! Tickets are $35 in advance and $45 at the door, with proceeds going to United Way of Miami-Dade. All tickets include the chef competition, food sampling, open bar, and live entertainment, and you girls can purchase them here.

Take your pick, Girls- these two events let us all welcome the weekend with open arms!
